THE HISTORY OF
PEBBLE BEACH, CALIFORNIA
The land that would eventually become Pebble Beach was originally owned by Fabián Barreto as part of the Rancho Pescadero Mexican land grant. The area would pass through several owners before David Jack bought the land in 1860.
In 1909, the Pebble Beach Lodge was built, giving the area a taste of resort life. Though the resort burned in 1917, the tone of the town was set. Pebble Beach was destined to be a resort destination for buyers and tourists alike.
